Description

Lost Land Trip – A Unique Desert Adventure in Sinai, Egypt

Introduction to the Lost Land

The Lost Land is a breathtaking chain of natural canyons located in Northern Sinai, Egypt, offering one of the most spectacular desert landscapes in the region.

Due to its close proximity to the international border, this hidden gem is rarely visited by tourists, and unguided groups are not permitted in the area. As a result, the Lost Land remains perfectly preserved, untouched, and naturally pristine, just as Mother Nature shaped it thousands of years ago.

This makes the Lost Land Trip an ideal adventure for families, nature lovers, and thrill-seekers looking for something truly special during their holiday in Sharm El Sheikh.

History of the Area

Located at approximately 1,000 meters above sea level, the Lost Land was once part of the ancient seabed. Today, visitors can clearly see fossilized coral formations and seashells embedded in the rocks, offering a fascinating glimpse into the area’s prehistoric past.

Over millions of years, water, wind, and time have sculpted the canyon walls into incredible shapes. The soft sandstone has weathered to form caves, crevices, and mysterious rock patterns, many resembling natural artwork.

Nature has also created striking eagle-shaped and cup-shaped rock formations, adding to the magical atmosphere of the landscape.

Historically, the Lost Land was not always a desert. For centuries, it lay along an important trade and military route connecting Africa with the Middle East.
Ancient Egyptian Pharaohs once marched their troops through this region, and later, Muslim pilgrims from across Africa traveled this route on their way to Makkah.

The ancient rock paintings found here are powerful evidence of human presence, dating back to the Roman Empire, making this trip both an adventure and a journey through history.
